Our Principals, Our People CRC's principals are Catherine Timko and David M. Nellis. With a degree in urban planning, Catherine Timko has more than 20 years' experience in community business and economic development and a respected record of achievement for helping retailers and investors better understand and successfully pursue their target markets. She offers demonstrated successes in positioning communities to effectively compete for new retail and achieve strategic goals for commercial revitalization, growth and expansion in the retail sector. Catherine, who also is principal of The Riddle Company, a Washington, D.C.-based retail marketing and PR consultancy, is a widely published and recognized expert on community retail attraction and development and is the incoming Dean for Economic Development, ICSC Institute for Shopping Center Management. She also is an active board member of numerous community and civic organizations, many focused on retail development and attraction. David Nellis is an international award-winning, strategic marketing communications professional specializing in retail. He brings to the table more than 30 years of success devising and deploying multi-tiered, brand-driven marketing programs to deliver top-of-mind image/message awareness and revenue for a wide range of local, regional, national and international, retail and retail-oriented clients. These include Tier One telecom companies (Nextel, Sprint, Cable & Wireless, MCI, Primus); associations; packaged goods manufacturers; software solutions providers; chain department stores; apparel, home furnishings and gourmet food specialty retail chain retailers and regional shopping centers; healthcare providers (HMO's, multi-practice medical malls, insurance companies), and hospitality/tourism venues, among many others. David also is a principal of Return On Investment, Inc. (ROI), one of the 15 largest marketing communications agencies headquartered in the Greater Washington, D.C. marketplace. Prior to ROI, he served as president of two of the five largest agencies in Greater Washington. Earlier in his career, he served as vice president, sales promotion of the combined, $220 million Raleigh's/Garfinckel's specialty apparel retail chain and as vice president, public relations for Hecht's, then the largest department stores division of the May Company. CRC's SENIOR EXECUTIVES INCLUDE: David Sturtevant, vice president, boasts an Impressive, award-winning, 35-year background in public sector administration and business-related public relations. His professional experience includes work with the Ways and Means Committee of the New York State Legislature; with Prince George's County (MD) as county liaison officer with the State Legislative Delegation; with the Maryland Association of Counties as assistant ED and with the Schaeffer Administration in the revitalization of Downtown Baltimore. He also worked with the ASCII Group representing 1100 independent computer retail and consulting firms on marketing, PR and site selection. Elliot R. Dalberg, vice president of marketing services, is a strategic marketing and media professional with more than three decades of experience. He formerly was a senior retail sales promotion executive for super-regional media planning at Macy's/Bamberger's (Federated Stores), Hecht's (May Company) and Raleigh's/Garfinckel's (Washington, D.C.) and media director for a leading, full-service strategic marketing communications agency, one of the largest headquartered in Greater Washington, D.C., serving major local, regional, national and international clients.
